Menu Monday

Good morning!  I don't know about the weather where you live, but it is feeling like full on summer down here.  I think Spring just gave a quick wave and headed out...it is hot.

E isn't complaining however, of course I wouldn't either if I got to lounge around all day with that view!  Keep reading to see what we were up to this weekend and what our week ahead looks like.

But, before I tell you all about our weekend, I have to tell you about last Thursday night!  I helped with an Orlando Moms Blog event called Bloom: An event for new and expectant moms.  It was held at Downtown CREDO coffee shop in College Park and it turned out to be spectacular!

There was lots of swag thanks to some awesome sponsors and I even got to walk the red carpet with this beauty (below).  The Finley Project was our special non-profit for the night and received some of proceeds from the ticket raffle.  Yay!

The event was packed and had everything from chair massages to cake pops to mini maternity photography sessions.  There was something for anyone and everyone.

I even tried the vegan curried quinoa!

I had a great time hanging out with all of my fellow Orlando Moms Blog Bloggers and can't wait to see them again soon.  Kudos ladies!

Then, of course, Friday afternoon we headed up to Palatka for more work on The Inheritance Project.  I have a new update post coming later this week, but until then I can tell you we primed until our fingers bled.  Well, not really.  But we primed A LOT.

Here is the before and after in the master bedroom.  With just one coat of primer on the walls (3 coats on the baseboards) it already looks SO.MUCH.BETTER.

I finished up early on Saturday and left Mike to work some more because I had a date with my littlest dude.  We had tickets to go see Mary Poppins that was being put on by the Palatka High School Musical Theater Department.  We got all dressed up, took dinner by to Mike and then headed to the spectacular show.

My aunt has raved about the musical theater department for years, and when she found out that we would be up in Palatka during the running of this year's show she told me I had to take E.  When I found out it was Mary Poppins I was in.  I loved the movie as a child and I knew he would like it as well.  He's pretty musical too, so he was on the edge of his seat the entire time.

To say that I was blown away by the performance would be an understatement.  I am not kidding when I say that the musical could be featured on Broadway tomorrow.  The cast was amazing and I can't rave about it enough.  It was SO GOOD.  Mary Poppins flew, Bert walked upside down and they all had English accents.  Amazing!

Sunday morning found us back at "the working house", as Everett calls it, for more work.  We had even more priming to do.  This time in another bedroom and the dreaded hall way.

Prepping/covering the floors seems never ending!

I have been dreading the hallway for a while now.  Since every doorway, closet and baseboard in the house are the original wood, it takes 3-4 coats of primer to fully cover.  Well, the hallway had the most wood trim out of every room and took us a full day to prime and caulk...but boy does it look better.   The house looks 10 times bigger and cleaner!

We are taking next weekend off for Mother's Day, but when we return the weekend after that we should be ready for some final coats of paint on the trim and walls.  I love when real transformation happens.  I can't wait!

Meanwhile, back at the river...

You can tell that E really doesn't miss us much while we are working.  He loves staying at Gransie's and even had his own pool this weekend with a river front view.  It looked so inviting that when we got home, we had to jump in, too!

To top it all off, Aunt Janie had mojitos, homemade guac and chips, and spaghetti with meat sauce waiting for the family before we headed home.  It was delicious and soooo much appreciated!

Miss grabby hands Hilty stayed on dad's shoulders during dinner and then passed out before dessert.  When it's bedtime, it's bedtime and she's out like a light!

This week looks like a fun one with many exciting things going on this weekend.  My friend Lynn sent me a link for a free trail box of Hello Fresh meal delivery service and since I'm all about free, I figured why not!  The box should arrive today and I am so excited to try it out (includes 3 meals).

I am also meeting friends for Mexican tonight for a pre-Cinco de Mayo celebration, as well as looking forward to blueberry picking, play watching, Mother's Day brunching and zip-lining with the gators this weekend.  Next week's Menu Monday post should be buzzing with all sorts of fun pics!
