Smooth and Easy

When I was looking back at all of my previous blogs I realized that I have never shared my favorite smoothie recipe!  This used to be our go-to drink after long runs and now Everett loves to help make it and devour it.

Smoothies are easy.  Smoothies that use smoothie packets are very, very easy.

I have been buying these chocolate banana smoothie packets for a while now and love how they taste.  They are sold in the produce department of most grocery stores and usually run about $0.99 each.  There are many different flavors, but I have found that ironically, the chocolate banana mix has a lot fewer sugars than the fruit based powders.

When we first started making these, we would just simply follow the recipe on the back that simply just calls for a banana (I use frozen), milk and ice.  Since then we like to doctor it up and add a few more fun ingredients.

Below is our tried and true recipe for a great post workout or after work snack; toddler approved.  Enjoy!

Chocolate Peanut Butter Smoothie

1 C ice
1 frozen banana (I freeze mine in a bag with the skin removed)
1 1/2 C milk - or more for a thinner consistency
1/2 C vanilla yogurt (optional)
handful of dark chocolate chips (optional)
2 T peanut butter (optional)

Put all ingredients in a blender and let it rip until desired consistency.  If your smoothie is too thick, just add a bit more milk to thin.

Other Mix-in Ideas:

  • Nuts- peanuts, almonds, cashews, pecans
  • Superfoods - Chia seeds, SF powders
  • Greens - spinach, kale or avocado

Tip!
If you are unable to find the smoothie mix, Chocolate Peanut Powder is a great substitute!

Smoothie straws that have a wide opening are also great to have on hand and they are perfect for milkshakes, too!
