Weekend Update

Lights Trail @ US National Whitewater Center

Our relaxing, yet busy, weekend recap is up.  Cheers to a great week ahead!

This weekend was full of fun events and lots of relaxing in between.  Friday afternoon started out with a surprise for Hilty - an invitation from her dad to attend her first ever Daddy-Daughter Dance.  She was beside herself.

I found two new dresses and she got to pick which one she wanted to wear (the sparkly, twirly dress won, of course) and she also chose to get her nails painted and her hair straightened.  She felt like such a big girl and couldn't wait to have a night out with her daddy.  She even picked out his outfit, too.

After posing for a few pictures they headed to dinner with a few other dads and daughters and had a blast.  The girls really just liked running around without their shoes on and playing with the hula hoops, but fun was had nonetheless!

I had to work the dance, so I got to sneak in and snap a few pics, and Everett was invited to dinner and movie with some of the brothers of the girls headed to the dance.  He had a blast and was so happy to have fun with some new friends!

Saturday Everett had basketball, but it wasn't until 11:30, so we slept in, lounged and had a great lazy morning.

After basketball we headed to Aldi to do some comparison shopping (more on that in a later post).  We definitely saved money on our grocery bill, but also ended up buying an air fryer there.  LOL.

So far I have only made french fries (they were delicious) and I can't wait to try to more recipes and report back soon on not only our Aldi experience, but also some new air fryer recipes!

We finished up the weekend by heading to the Whitewater Center Sunday night to see the Lights trail.  We have been wanting to experience it, but it seems that every free night we have had it has been rainy!

We met our friends there for a quick rendezvous that ended with a little ice skating watching and hot chocolate sipping.  We feel so blessed to have so many awesome outdoor places (and our friends) near by.

The trail isn't hilly and, although very dark in between light displays, is a great place to take the kiddos.  They loved exploring in the woods and of course were trying to scare us around every curve.

As far as our menu for this week, it is shaping up to be a yummy one!
