Weekend Wrap-Up

Parties, hiking and lights, oh my!  That was our weekend in a nutshell and it was a blast, although we are all still a bit tired and probably will be the whole week.  No rest for the weary!

Saturday night we hosted a party for Mike's new co-workers and had a great time getting to know them a little bit more.

We had a delicious charcuterie board (blog post about that coming soon), lasagna, cesear salad, garlic knots and then topped it all off with apple crisp ala mode.  The white elephant present exchange was hilarious and lots of laughs were shared.  Hopefully this will become an annual tradition!

Sunday was early to church and then we headed out for a 4 mile hike in gorgeous weather at Crowders Mountain. It's definitely not an easy hike at all, but one that both of our kids have done a handful of times now and it's so fun to do it with them (and not have to carry anyone on our shoulders).

The kiddos even got to open an early Christmas gift on the way to the mountain -  their new Camelback backpacks from our friend, and Everett's godmother, @kamrife .  If you aren't aware, Camelbacks have a built in water reservoir in them - which means I'm not carrying water bottles up the mountain.  Game changer.

They loved "wearing their water" and even having a place to store their own snacks.  BEST. GIFT. EVER.  Thanks Kam!!!

The sun was shining, and although a little cold up at the summit, it was a perfect morning for hiking.  We are so blessed to only live 20 minutes from this beautiful mountain.

Sunday afternoon we fit in a grocery pick up, Packer game watching, and some down time for the adults - the kids literally played outside with the neighbors starting the minute we got home until it was time to leave again.

Sunday evening we headed to Carowinds to experience their Winterfest display of lights and all things Christmas.  It was really beautiful and they left no tree unlit.

We saw multiple singing shows, the parade and even shared a funnel cake.

We were up way past our bed time, but made lots of fun memories.
