Menu Monday–

First week of school and a sick kid.  Not a good combo. Last week, Everett came down with a pretty bad case of roseola (come to find out) and was out of commission all week.  After a doctor’s visit that ruled out anything else, we were told in regards to the fever to just “wait it out”.  Mike was home with E Monday and Tuesday of last week and then our savior, Gransie, came down to stay with him the rest of the week.  I was back at school for Meet Your Teacher on Monday with the first day of school the next day, so I was not available to stay home with the sick boy Sad smile. Boo.

E is not really a fever guy, but he had his share of them with roseola.  Monday he was averaging 101.5-102, Tuesday it was up to around 103 with the highest coming Wednesday morning around 3am at about 104.5---scary.  Luckily, after some Motrin and some sleep on mom it came down pretty quickly.  His fever finally broke on Thursday with a pretty nasty looking rash showing up Thursday afternoon.  He was miserable and not eating (luckily still drinking) all week, but seems to be on the mend now.  Fingers crossed.

Roseola (also known as sixth disease, exanthem subitum, and roseola infantum) is a viral illness in young kids, most commonly affecting those between 6 months and 2 years old. It is usually marked by several days of high fever, followed by a distinctive rash just as the fever breaks.

E was pretty much back to normal-ish by Friday when he and Mike took on the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge.  Rock stars.

After a family run and visit to the park on Saturday morning, we headed up to Palatka to see the family before our crazy fall schedule starts!  We did lots of running, eating and relaxing

Sunday we were up and at ‘em again with another run, this one 5 miles as we prepare to run the Miracle Miles at the end of September.  Luckily the view was pretty nice.

We headed to brunch at the cutest little place in downtown Palatka called The Magnolia Café.  I loved the vibe and the food.  It was delish!
